Accessibility
Last updated 12 October 2026
We want Shut the Box to work for as many people as possible. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- Reading text is at least 16px and every button is at least 44px tall.
- Text sits on dark panels so it stays readable over the game picture.
- Game events are announced to screen readers.
- Motion is reduced if your device asks for less motion.
- Words are kept plain and short.
Playing with a keyboard
- Space or Enter: roll the dice
- 1 to 9: choose a tile
- Esc: clear your choice
What we know is not perfect yet
- The 3D picture of the box is not described to screen readers. Instead the tiles are also buttons (reach them with Tab, or press 1 to 9), and each roll, the tiles still open and the result are announced.
